Social Responsibility
In the article The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits, the argument is made that business' have responsibilities like providing employment, eliminating discrimination, and avoid pollution on top of being profitable. I think that this statement is wrong and that the firms main goal is to maximize profit and provide employment, eliminate discrimination, and avoid pollution is all up the the owners and managers. How the business is ran is determined by the objectives and what it needs to accomplish. There are different components to a business, for example, there is top executives and then below them could be a team that creates and designs the product and even lower are employees, who produce and assemble the final product. I think that the three of them combined make a firm and its main goal is to be profitable. Each individual "team" is responsible for responsibilities like providing employment, eliminating discrimination, and avoid pollution on top of being profitable.
